Student Accommodation Granada
Granada is, first and foremost, a university city. It has a population of 240,000 people, over 65,000 of whom are students, lecturers, researchers and administrative staff at the University of Granada. This means that a wide range of accommodation options are available to international students, researchers and teaching staff.
It is said that this city of Andalusia is made for students. The truth is that it is an economic city, very beautiful and it has many festivals and cultural activities to do every day. It also has an incredible cultural heritage, with some of its most outstanding places being the Alhambra, the Albaicín, San Miguel Alto and Sacromonte.
The University of Granada also stands out in the city, both for its quality and for the atmosphere it provides to young people. The institution organizes many activities for students so that both Spaniards and internationals can easily adapt to life in the city.
You are surely wondering, Where do I look for student accommodation in Granada? There are different areas of the city that are very chosen to live during a season, located both near the university and leisure areas.
How much does a student room cost in Granada?
There are two types of rooms to rent in this city: private and shared. A private room has a price ranging from € 180 onwards. Access the search engine at the top of this page and find the one that best suits you. Granada is one of Europe’s most affordable student cities. Spanish and international students normally share accommodation — usually in flats of between 2 to 4 people — as this is the cheapest option (approximately €200-€300 per month for a room).
Why study in Granada?
Granada is a perfect city for students. It is beautiful and has all kinds of activities to do, both for those who like to party and for those who prefer more relaxed plans. It receives thousands of students every year, so the student atmosphere is very dynamic and fun. We have a cool article about student life Granada
What is the culture like in Granada?
Granada is a culturally rich city which combines traditional Andalucian culture (such as flamenco) with the most modern styles. Some of the most distinguished events/places are Parque de Las Ciencias (Science Park) which you can visit on any day, Noche en Blanco (White night) that normally takes place on March, International Festival of Music and Dance, that normally takes place from June to July and Semana Santa (Holy Week) that consists of several processions each day during the whole week.
Finally, we have to admit that even though Granada is quite a small city, it has a lot of things to offer and is definitely worth visiting at least once in your life. If you are interested in studying abroad in Spain, it can also be a great choice as it is totally adapted to student’s life. I hope you enjoyed learning more about this beautiful city and hope you feel encouraged enough to visit it.
What to explore in Granada?
Probably the most popular part of the city is Albayzín, a medieval Arabian district full of narrow streets surrounded by typically white houses. Without any doubts, my most favorite parts of Albayzín are its small Arabian tea-rooms which offer a great variety of tea products and the well know “miradores” which are basically viewpoints from where you can see the whole city of Granada and its most famous monument called Alhambra (a medieval Arabian fortress which is definitely worth visiting).
There is no such thing as taking a walk around the city centre and Albayzín or just having a great dinner at some of the viewpoints after a long day at the University, and I can totally tell you that you will never get tired of visiting all of these places.
